It doesn’t matter what color your skin is or even your tone, there are colors that compliment exactly your skin color available out there. Take some of our advice to find the best color matches for your skin tone and look good with any makeup look.

So you’re not quite fair skinned and you’re not olive either. You are on the middle, perhaps wavering with some warm or cool undertones, loving the natural glow but getting away with tons of makeup choices. You lucky girl, you! Golden-browns and honey shades will enhance your beautiful complexion with bronzers or highlighters while rich blue shadows or lavender will make your eyes really stand out.

You want to work with your undertones. Choosing the perfect makeup may look good on medium skin but your undertone may make or break the look. Some general undertones look like this:

Cool: Red, pink, or blue undertones

Warm: Yellow, peach or golden undertones

Neutral: Somewhere between cool and warm.

Here is how you can find out what your undertone is.

Look at the veins on your wrist. If they are blue than you have cool undertones. If they are green then you have warm undertones. If they appear blue-green than you are neutral. If you are still not sure try the jewelry test. If gold jewelry enhances your complexion than you have warmer undertones but if silver is more your style than you likely have cool undertones. Using these 2 techniques you should be able to determine what your undertones are.

Choosing the Best Foundation & Blush

Now that you know your undertone, you can successfully choose your foundation with accuracy. Many times a company will have shades that look almost exact to another but if you look closely, they are to compliment your undertones. Remember your undertone when shopping around and we guarantee you’ll find the best match for your skin! Blush is another troublesome shopping trip for many. Getting a blush that is too red, or light, or peachy can turn you off blush for a lifetime. If you have medium skin with cool undertones we suggest you stick with rosey pink blush. If your undertones are warm, we suggest you stick with peach blush to enhance your natural glow.

Eye Shadow Shades & Lipstick

As stated in the beginning of this post, medium skin tones are wonderfully paired with golden-browns and honey colors. When shopping for a fab shade of shadow, look for colors like that. You can also pick up shadow pallets of complimentary colors to play with to make your look more amazing. Cool undertones also look good with lavender or grey, while copper and rich blues flatter warmer undertones. Now shopping for a lipstick can be a lot of fun! See what we suggest to find out if you’ve been grabbing the right color for your medium tone. Warmer undertones look best with gold or orange based reds, burgundy, coral and even brown. If looking for a nude lip stick with beige-nude to avoid being washed out. Cool undertones look best with blue-based reds, berry, pinks, and mauve. Again when looking for a nude lip, don’t veer far from a slight hint of pink.
